The city observed a total bundh on Monday, the 12th of February 2007. This is in protest against the results of Cauvery River Water Tribunal outcome on the dispute between Karnataka and Tamilnadu states. The government of Karnataka says that the outcome had caused injustice to Karnataka, while favoring Tamilnadu. The bundh was supported by the Government of Karnataka.

All shops and establishments were closed from 6AM to 6PM on 12th. There was no vehicular traffic on roads. Most of the IT companies too closed their offices during the day.

The government made its stand clear, saying that the outcome of the tribunal is not acceptable. It is likely to prolong for quite some time before an acceptable formula is reached.
