India BSE Sensex Crosses 10000 Mark
The BSE sensex crossed a historical 10,000 mark today. Though it settled down at close to 9980 at the end of the day. The sensex movement is very steep, considering that it was as low as 5683 on 6th Feb 2004, and 6535 on 7th Feb 2005. It is about 52% increase in Feb. 2005 to Feb. 2006, and 15% increase during the period Feb. 2004- Feb. 2005. The GDP growth remains close to 7%. The reasons are likely to be:
1. Foreign firms are now allowed to invest in real estate sector, and
2. Recently, India has relaxed retail sector, and retail majors like Wal-Mart, USA are planning to setup shops in India.
However, the Sensex growth appears to be unrealistic and some corrections may be expected during the coming months.

Indian IT Companies are hiring for future potential
According to a news item in Time Of India today, many Indian IT companies are hiring software professionals for thier potential capabilities rather than any current requirement (or assignments). In a pre-emptive hiring spree, it appears Indian companies are betting high on the future orders or assignments from overseas customers. With US growth rate at lowest levels during the last quarter of 2005, it needs to be seen how the Indian companies perform during the year 2006.

Though it came a little late, this is a wakeup call for the industry and research institutes engaged in the development of alternative energy sources. Some of the known energy sources are:
- Wind energy
- Ocean energy
- bio energy, and others.
